BANKSY

Yesterday Sweet D calls me and says.." hey, there are supposed to be some banksy stuff located in and around downtown Portland, they have been up since early august". I almost dropped the phone. I wondered what was i doing that i did not hear about this. August was a busy month for us with the move and having #2 from July to august and #4 for the school year and the move along with our normal day to day. shit. I totally slept on this. We even went to see the exit through the gift shop but i still never heard of banksy or even a banksy impostor putting anything up anywhere in Portland. I was hoping that he would, knowing that before his openings stuff was popping up at every other stop ( sf, la) and Portland Seattle and Vancouver BC were next and they all got something but i never heard of Portland getting anything.
Anyways so when i picked up sweet d from work she had a post it with the addresses of all the locations of where the stuff was seen. Of the 5 locations only 3 remained. According to the sites that we used to research them it seems that these are fakes that just happened to turn up around the time that the movie premiered here. But i had to see for myself and if they are fakes kudos the the dudes that put that much effort into copying him. still pretty good fakes or not but you can be the judge.

ps. these are the sites that i used for the research:
http://www.oregonlive.com/art/index.ssf/2010/09/was_world-famous_graffiti_arti.html You will see in the title pic that someone had already written over it and they wrote what looks like "fake bank" on the monkey with the sandwich board.
http://blogtown.portlandmercury.com/BlogtownPDX/archives/2010/08/17/is-banksy-in-portland The overwhelming opinion and those opinions in the comments section lean toward these being very good fakes. This article also shows the 2 supposed banksys that i was not able to get pics of because they have been painted over already.

This site also alludes to the fact that these were good fakes. If anyone should know its the banksy prints site. it seemed to be the most current and detailed on all things banksy that i found.
Enjoy...................

david choe. upper playground. 2007 #4 said i should take a pic of it, so i did.

pps. I went to the actual banksy site at : http://www.banksy.co.uk/ and didn't see anything listed as Portland, so I guess that is the evidence that i needed to make sure that these are fakes. However, on his site he does not list everything that he has done, so again we are left to wonder. I need to do something else. peace.
